Greening Taupō Day 2026 – What a Day!
First up, a massive thank you to everyone who helped make Greening Taupō Day such a success. From all the preparation beforehand to lending a hand on the day itself, the support from everyone was incredible.
As it’s been for the last couple of years for Greening Taupō Day, Taupō's weather kept us on our toes, serving up a bit of everything throughout the week. But that certainly didn't stop people from getting involved, and it was awesome to see so many smiling faces out enjoying the event.
4,000 native trees were planted on the day! There will be a few finishing touches to complete, but it was incredible to see hundreds of people out in nature, getting their hands dirty and contributing to something positive for the environment and having a lot of fun doing it.💚
The plan for Tomorrow
You guessed it – tomorrow we’re heading back to the planting site. Our top priority will be checking that all the plants are sitting snug in the ground.
We had a nice amount of rain before, during and after the event, which the plants would have loved.
We’ll be going through and replanting any that need it, making sure they’re well-heeled in and ready to thrive.
Checking that the plants that have been mulched, the mulch is away from the stem of the plant.
We didn’t get stakes, so that will be a project later in the year, but I did bring out about 200 for plants that need to be staked and tied up.
Tauhara Road, next to the golf course park outside the red gate or drive in and up through the planting along the access track and park up the back away from stray golf balls. There is plenty of room.
🕐 12:30 – 2:45 pm
🧤 Bring your gloves and a spade if you’d like, I’ll bring a few to share, mallets and ties.
🌞 The weather looks sunny, but it’s Taupō, so come prepared
🧁 I’ll bring along some afternoon tea for all
See you there!
