Wicked Weeders 23rd June🌱

Hi all,

We had a great day last week, alongside a few of our regular Wicked Weeders, we were fortunate to receive some fantastic support from the team from Downers.

We returned to the 2023 planting site alongside the river below Kahurangi Gully, where we infilled approximately 200 plants. Taupō District Council also delivered a couple of loads of mulch, which we spread around the plants to help give the site a much-needed boost.

This week, we'll be heading back to the same site to finish spreading the remaining mulch that we didn't quite get through last week. With that completed, the site should be in great shape and looking good. 🌳

I'll bring everything needed to get the mulch around the plants, including buckets, shovels, the rake, and afternoon tea. Please remember your gloves and sturdy footwear.

There is rain in the forecast for tomorrow afternoon, but at this stage I reckon we'll be okay. Bring a raincoat, just in case I’m very wrong! 😁

12:30 pm – 2:30 pm

I'll unlock the gate at the Control Gates but will keep it closed to manage access. Please open and close it behind you, then drive all the way along until you see us below Kahurangi Gully.

Coming up:

26 June - We have another community planting event this Saturday, 27 June, at Owen Delany Park opposite the SPCA. To help get everything ready, we'll be looking for a few extra hands on Friday, the 26th, from 10:00 am to assist with site setup. If you're available and keen to help, we'd love to have you along.

27 June– Community planting from 11:00 am, Owen Delany Park opposite the SPCA. All welcome to join in.

30 June– Return to the Owen Delany Park planting site opposite the SPCA to check on the new plants and make sure everything is looking good after planting.

See you there!
