Wicked Weeders 26th May

Hello all, hope everyone is doing well.

Tomorrow, for Wicked Weeders, we’ll be heading to a small planting site in Hilltop, off Liston Ave at the top of Puriri Street, which we call the bowl. There’s quite a bit of blackberry that has taken off around the site. It’s starting to die back a bit at the moment, so it’s a great time to get in and cut it back while it’s easier to manage before spring growth kicks in again. There are also a few woody weeds we can tackle while we’re there.

I wasn’t able to find a more recent photo, but the 2021 planting is doing really well, which is great to see.

The weather forecast is still looking fabulous. The ground is a little uneven in places with thick vegetation cover, so please wear sturdy footwear. As there’s some blackberry, bring your gloves, and it’s best to cover up as well.

I’ll bring a few hedge shears, grubbers, loppers, paste and afternoon tea 💚

See you there 12.30pm - 2.30pm
