Wicked Weeders 19th May

Hello everyone, hope you all had a lovely weekend. We had a very successful planting weekend.

The Wairakei Drive planting with Shawn, Upflow, and the community was amazing, with a great turnout, a well-prepared site and loads of mulch spread throughout. Shawn even returned later to water all the plants, and the site is looking fantastic.

Sunday’s Hospice planting was also really special. Around 35 people came along to plant 200 kōwhai trees, creating a very special site. Thank you to everyone who helped prepare the sites beforehand; you all helped make both events such a success.

Thanks for the pictures, Hutch

For tomorrow, Tuesday 19 May, we’ll head back to the Hospice kōwhai planting at Secombe Park, 3 Mile Bay. There are just a couple of things left to finish off, a few plants left to go in and a small amount of mulch still to spread.

The forecast is looking good. The ground is a little uneven and steep in places, so please wear sturdy footwear and bring your gloves.

I’ll bring the plants, buckets for the mulch, and afternoon tea. 💚

Secombe Park, 3 Mile Bay
12:30–2:30 pm

See you there!
