Wicked Weeders 24th March

Hello

A big thank you to everyone who came out last week to tackle the massive amount of fleabane among the 2025 plantings at the Broadlands site. It’s a big job and we made a great start, but we will likely return again soon to keep chipping away at it.

It was fantastic to see the native plants looking really healthy, and the kids had a great time getting stuck in.

🌿The plan for tomorrow is to visit WW Grant’s restoration project in Titoki Gully and give him a hand tackling some weeds. A mix of releasing and cut n paste work. Sounds like he has made a great transformation of a weedy area.

Time: 9:30–11:30 am

I’ll bring a selection of tools, including loppers, cut n paste and the morning tea. Please bring gloves and wear sturdy footwear. The weather is looking good, so it should be a great morning out.

Access:
You can park on Titoki Street and take an easy walk across the reserve to the site, or park on Hyde Ave. From there, there’s a steep bank down to the site.

🌱 31st March: If the weather is suitable, we’ll head to the golf course planting area opposite the dog obedience club on Centennial Drive. A few woody weeds are starting to get away, so we’ll focus on some cut-and-paste control.
