Wicked Weeders 22 September from 11am

We finished off our community planting season with a fantastic day at Whakaipō Bay on Saturday! It was a beautiful day in a stunning location, with a great turnout from the community and, of course, a few of our wonderful Wicked Weeders getting plenty of trees in the ground. 🌱💚

The day wouldn't have been such a success without the mammoth effort that went into Friday's setup. A huge thank you to our Wicked Weeders, volunteers and the DOC team who helped get everything ready. Once again, the weather wasn't particularly kind to us during setup, we got a bit wet in the morning, but thankfully the sun came out after lunch to dry us off!

For Wicked Weeders this Tuesday, we'll head back to the Whakaipō Bay planting site, with an earlier start time of 11:00 am.

We'll be joined by a preschool group, and the little ones have a few extra trees to plant. We'll give them a hand getting those in the ground, then check over Saturday's planting to make sure everything has been planted nicely and is settling in well.

Not too sure what the weather could be doing, maybe just a bit cloudy but there could be a passing shower. Please wear sturdy footwear and bring your gardening gloves. I'll bring the spades and a few stakes. Not all the plants need staking, but we'll give a little extra support to any taller plants that need it.

📍 Whakaipō Bay, off Mapara Road – the planting site is behind the Girl Guides. The Girl Guides gate will be locked, so we'll need to park at the bottom and walk up the 4WD track to the planting site.

Tuesday 29th: We have a few trees left over that need to be put in the ground. I’ll have a look around and see where we can do some suitable infilling.
