Wicked Weeders 11th August
Hello everyone,
Hope you all had a lovely weekend! We had a fantastic community planting on Saturday, with a great turnout and another very successful day at Centennial Drive. 🌱
And what were the chances of squeezing our planting day in between one of the coldest mornings we've had and a wet, gloomy day? Perfect for us and the newly planted plants.
The site was well prepared, with vermicast in all the holes and plenty of mulch to spread around the plants. Then they got a lovely natural watering the following day. We couldn't have planned it much better.
The site is looking fantastic after five community plantings, with a great number of plants now established throughout the area. Andrew has already been busy on the scrub bar, clearing weeds and starting to prepare the next area for another planting event next year.
For tomorrow, Tuesday 11th August, we'll head back to the Centennial Drive planting site. The site was left in pretty good shape, with all the mulch spread around the plants, so our main job will be to walk through and check that all the new plants are sitting nicely and snug in the ground. I'll also bring along a few stakes for any plants that were missed.
The forecast is looking good. The ground is a little uneven in places, so please wear sturdy footwear and bring your gloves.
I'll bring the stakes and, of course, afternoon tea. 💚
