Wicked Weeders 3rd March
Hi all.
March has arrived with some cooler temperatures; we’ll be seeing the leaves changing colours and fingers crossed, the blackberry and convolvulus growth has come to a stop. I came across some yummy blackberries the other day along the Lions Walk down towards 5 Mile Bay 😋
I massive thankyou to all who helped out last week with repotting the many seedlings that Andrew is caring for. He was stoked with the turnout and very happy with all that got done. We still have a few more seedlings that need repotting, so we may head back in a few weeks.
For weeders this Tuesday, we will head to Hipapatua. We’ll start at the bottom of the site along the river; it’s mostly well established now, but there are still a few tidy-up jobs to take care of. We’ll revisit the other planted areas later in the month.
Plan for this Tuesday is to:
🌳Pull convolvulus away from plants
🌳Straighten up a few plants that have been pulled over by convolvulus
🌳clear up some long grass away from the plantings
🌳Cut n Paste any woody weeds throughout the site
I’ll bring a selection of tools and morning tea to share.
The forecast is looking fine, possibly a bit chilly to start, but sunny. The lower area can be damp or soggy underfoot, so please wear sturdy footwear.
9.30am - 11.30am Hipapatua (previously known as Reids Farm) off of Huka Falls Rd. Head down to the river edge where people exit from their float experience.
Looking forward to seeing you there 😊
