Wicked Weeders 3rd Feb🌱

Welcome Back, Wicked Weeders!

Hi all,

Welcome back to another year of fun weeding, planting, morning teas and making a difference! 🌱

Tomorrow, Tuesday 3rd, the weather doesn't look too fabulous, but I am sure you are all keen to get back into it, so we’ll head out and kick off the year at Crown Park. Kids Greening Taupō (KGT) are planning their first event of the year, “Show the Plants Love”, on 17th February, bringing school students along to spread mulch and learn about planting natives and looking after them.

Over the next couple of Tuesdays, we’ll focus on preparing the plants near the pump track so the students can mulch effectively. We’ll also check the rest of the site, including the bowl area further along the track.

What to bring: Dress for the conditions (likely to be wet), wear sturdy footwear, and bring gloves. I’ll bring some tools to tidy up around the plants. We’ll finish with morning tea. 🌿

Looking forward to seeing you all and kicking off 2026 with some great mahi!

Coming up in February:

🌱 Tuesday 10th: Back to Crown Park to finish releasing and preparing the site for the Kids Greening Taupō “Show the Plants Love” event.

🌱 Tuesday 17th: Support Kids Greening Taupō at their mulching event @Crown Park

🌱 Tuesday 24th: We’ve collected a number of seedlings over 2025, kindly cared for by Andrew Hilton. Many now need repotting; many hands will make light work of this task.
