Wicked Weeders from 9.30am

Hi all,

It’s looking good for Weeders tomorrow. With daylight savings now in, we’ll be switching to morning sessions, meeting from 9:30am to 11:30am so we can get the mahi done before the day warms up.

Tomorrow we’ll be heading to Wairakei Drive to support the wonderful folks caring for the plantings on the corner near the Hub — including Bradford Wood, Mike’s Grove, Phil’s planting and DJ Woods, plantings from 2015. The plan is to do some hand-weeding around the smaller plants and then spread some mulch around to keep them thriving 💚

I’ll bring along a selection of tools (grubbers, shears, releasing tools, and buckets for mulch) as well as morning tea. Please remember your gloves, sturdy footwear, and maybe a sunhat 😁.

Best to park up at the Hub and walk over to the site

Coming up

Tuesday 7th October: We’ll head to the 2023 planting alongside the river below Kahurangi Gully, Rangatira Park. We’ll check over the plants and focus on releasing those along the riverbank and around the edges of the larger site to keep it clear and visible for the lawnmowers. I’m thinking if we do clear the long grass away from the smaller plants, we’ll give them an extra layer of protection by spraying with rabbit repellent 🌳🌳🐰🌳 We may need to come back here to finish things off on the 14th.

Thank you
