Wicked Weeders 2nd September🌱
Hi all,
Another fantastic community planting on Saturday, and the rain arrived later that day to water in all the new plants. Perfect timing!
The weather for tomorrow looks pretty good overall, maybe a passing shower and a bit of wind, but nothing to stop us. So, we’ll head back to the Hipapatua site to make sure everything is looking good.
It’s Conservation Week, so we might have a few extra people joining us to get out and enjoy nature.
Hipapatua is off of Huka Falls Road, we will be at the winter camp ground, gate will be open drive in and park up.
Our focus will be on:
🌳 Checking all plants are correctly planted — not too deep or too shallow, and firmly heeled in
🌳 Making sure every plant has a bamboo stake and is tied where needed
🌳 Ensuring plants are mulched properly, with mulch pulled away from the stems
🌳 Spreading extra mulch where required
Time: 12:30–2:45 PM
I’ll bring along ties; a couple of spades and buckets and of course, some afternoon tea to share.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
