Wicked Weeders 5th August

Hi all,

We had an amazing community planting on Sunday, beautiful weather, and lots of happy people and supporters. Neat to see a few wicked weeders that joined in and got to enjoy the atmosphere of a planting event and put some plants in. The weather is still looking good for Wicked Weeders tomorrow, so we will head back to the Centennial site and make sure everything is tickety-boo.

Our focus will be on:

🌳 Ensuring all plants are correctly planted — not too deep or too shallow, and firmly heeled in
🌳Checking that every plant has a bamboo stake and is tied where needed
🌳Making sure plants are mulched properly, and that mulch is pulled away from the stems
🌳Spreading some extra mulch at the southern end where a few plants missed out

The forecast is still looking good for tomorrow, so we’re planning to head back to the Centennial site to make sure everything’s looking ticky-boo.

Time: 12:30–2:45 PM

I’ll bring along some ties a couple of spades and buckets are already on site — and of course, some afternoon tea to share.

Coming up:

Tuesday 12th August we will head to the 2024 Spa Park planting along Centennial Rd next to the NZ Post depot. We have a community planting here on Saturday 16th August with TDC. We will tidy the site up, there is a bit of broom along the fenceline that we will cut and paste and any other weeds that are coming back.
