Wicked Weeders 21st October🌦️

Hi all,

The weather hasn’t been too kind to the Wicked Weeders lately, and while tomorrow might not be perfect, we’re going ahead!

We’ll be working at the Centennial site, along Centennial Drive, between the AC Baths and the Taupō Golf Club entrance.

This Tuesday, we’ll focus on the area closer to AC Baths, where the plants aren’t exactly thriving. A load of flaxes has been dropped off for us, so we’ll get those in the ground to help improve the site. Additionally wth all the recent rain, a lot of the mulch has washed up against the stems of the plants at the front. It’d be good to go around and make some “mulch doughnuts” to keep the stems clear and prevent rot.

Here’s the plan for the morning:
🌿 Plant the flaxes that have been left for us (anywhere between 10–50)
🍩 Pull the mulch away from the stems by making mulch doughnuts around the plants at the front
🎋 Check over the site, straighten bamboo stakes and tie up any plants that need it

Time: 9:30–11:45 AM
I’ll bring a selection of tools (including the auger to make planting easier) and, of course, some morning tea to share.

Please bring a raincoat and sturdy footwear. Uneven ground and a bit of low blackberry around, so watch your ankles.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
