Community Planting at Hatepe 4th April🌱
On Saturday, 4th April, the wider community is invited to continue an incredible restoration journey begun by the late Chris Mercer. Since 2019, Chris’s vision, dedication, and tireless mahi have guided the clearing of invasive plants and the planting of over 6,000 native trees, shrubs, and sedges along the Hinemaiaia River at Hatepe.

Chris’s passion has inspired his family, local volunteers, bach owners, mana whenua, and corporate groups to care for this special area, restoring its natural beauty and creating a legacy that will be enjoyed for generations. Join the next planting on Saturday, 4th April, at 1.30 pm to help put around 2,000 native plants into the ground and honour Chris’s mahi.
