Total Sport delivers fun, challenging, and achievable outdoor events across Aotearoa, with a strong focus on creating memorable, meaningful experiences for people of all skill levels. For the past few years, Total Sport has kindly offered participants the opportunity to donate to Greening Taupō when registering for local events, helping to offset the carbon impact of travel. These contributions have supported our planting efforts across restoration sites, adding valuable native trees to the landscape. We’re so grateful for this ongoing support – it really does make a difference! 💚
In 2024, Total Sport launched the Taupō Trail Festival – https://www.taupotrailfestival.co.nz/ a vibrant three-day event featuring trail runs, a welcoming festival vibe, and a shared love of the great outdoors. Many of the festival’s events wind through Greening Taupō restoration sites, including our much-loved Karetoto Road project.
🌱 The final event of the festival is pretty special as it has launched the beginning of the Greening Taupō Planting season - the Supercars Community Planting. Thanks to the combined efforts of Supercars, Total Sport, and the community, we planted 4,000 native trees in 2024, followed by another 2,000 in 2025, and we’re already preparing to plant another 2,000 in 2026.
We love that Total Sport has made trees the currency of the festival – committing to plant a tree🌳 for every pair of shoes (big or small) that crosses a finish line. It’s a beautiful way to celebrate nature and give back to the trails and places we love to explore and restore.
