Our Supporters- First Credit Union Taupō
Greening Taupō Day 2024
Our mission is to improve the environment for people and native wildlife. Over the last 10 years we have planted over 50 ha of land with 241,412 native plants at multiple sites in Taupō including parks, reserves, trails and gullies. Our work is made possible by the extensive support of the wider Taupō community and for this we are very grateful. There is a myriad of ways that people, organisations and businesses are involved behind the scenes helping us get trees in the ground. From funding plantings, in kind donations to manning the BBQ, providing morning tea or volunteering your time everything helps and is much appreciated. We thought it was time to start to share these stories of support.
First Credit Union are a proudly kiwi owned community focused cooperative. Founded over 65 years ago on the principle of ‘people helping people’. They provide financial services with the advantage that profits get reinvested, benefiting members with no to low fees and better interest rates. To find out more you can visit Debbie and the team at the Taupō branch, located at 57 Te Heuheu Street, and they are open Mon-Fri 10-4.30. You will also find them helping run the BBQ at one of our planting days, so be sure to say hello.
First Credit Union have been incredible supporters of our work over the years. They’ve helped in so many ways, from funding buses to bring school children to Greening Taupō Day, to manning the BBQ and feeding our amazing volunteers at one of our community plantings during the season.

They also power our wonderful Wicked Weeders by providing morning or afternoon tea. Our Wicked Weeders are invaluable to our mahi they regularly volunteer their time to maintain and release planting sites and to help prepare new ones. They’re a fantastic team of people, and we’re so grateful to First Credit Union for helping us look after them with a well-earned cuppa and cookie after the hard mahi is done. If you want to be involved and find out more click here and come along to one of our sessions.
