Wicked Weeders 30th April

Hi all.

We had a fabulous planting event on the weekend. We were a little unsure who would turn up to the 2 o’clock planting but there was no need to worry; we had over 150 keen volunteers come out and plant the 1800 trees out in the beautiful sunshine.

Wicked Weeders tomorrow starts at 1230 - 245pm

We will return to the recent planting site on Karetoto Rd, opposite the Honey Hive. Park up at the Honey Hive and cross the road.

We need to check all the plants and make sure that they are planted correctly - Not too deep with stems buried, not too shallow with roots exposed. And heeled in nicely. Bring a spade along for any that need replanting.

Most plants have been staked, I will bring a few more stakes to finish off, we will need to tie up a few taller plants.

There is a small mess of a tree that fell in the planting, we didn’t get the timing right on this one. Be good to clear this tree up and get the wood out before anyone drives over the plants to get to it.

I will bring a few tools, ties and afternoon tea.

See you all tomorrow 🌳
