Wicked Weeders 08 July🌳

Hope you’ve been enjoying the beautiful sunshine and dried out 🌞 Looks like it’ll still be with us tomorrow, although it might be a bit chilly!

Plan for tomorrow:
We’ll be heading to the Centennial site along Centennial Drive, between the AC Baths and the entrance to the Taupō Golf Club. We’re really excited to have a new three-year partnership with Unison to continue restoring this site — such a great opportunity!

ECO Marshall has been releasing plants at this site for the past couple of years, so the northern end is really thriving. The southern end is still a bit slower to establish but is coming along. Thanks to additional funding, we’ve been able to get the Marshall team stuck into more weed control and prep for future planting. Andrew Hilton will also be following up with the finer site prep details.😁🌳And Council have recently removed the weedy wattles and tidied up the Oaks at the front of the planting site which is really appreciated.

Our next planting day here is on 4th August, so it’ll be great to get stuck in and hand clear the grass around the established plants and cut and paste any woody weeds. This will make the site look great ahead of the event, and keep on top of the weeds that get missed.

We will be working behind the Oaks in amongest the original 2021 planting
I’ll bring a selection of tools and some afternoon tea to share.
