Wicked Weeders 6th May

Hi all,

We had another super successful planting at the weekend with over 200 turning up again to plant, and it was also another beautiful day.

A huge thanks to everyone who helped make the planting day run so smoothly once again! It all came together thanks to the awesome prep work —Shawn put in hours clearing the site, there was a nice bit of rain beforehand, all the plants were laid out nicely and waiting, and we had a good amount of mulch to go around - Thank you!

We’ll be heading back to the Wairakei Drive planting site tomorrow (Tuesday) to check things over. Some of the taller plants may need tying up, and the holes were super-sized, so the soil may need to be compacted around some plants.

I’ll bring ties, mallets, and a few spades. All the mulch has been used up, so we’ll just need to check the plants—and of course, we’ll finish up with a cuppa!

We’ll be there from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm. Hope to see you then!

Site directions:
The Upflow planting site is about 1.5 km up Wairakei Drive on the right-hand side, just before the large rest area. There is signage for Huka Jet opposite the entrance of the site. You can pull off the road and park easily on the grass alongside the road.
